About The Role
The Procurement Manager develops and executes strategic sourcing and purchasing plans for shrimp raw materials to optimize manufacturing operations, exceed customer expectations, and maximize value for King & Prince Seafood. This position understands and leverages the relevant raw material markets and applies data-driven sourcing practices to achieve the best total value.
The Ideal Candidate
This ideal candidate is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in developing and executing strategic seafood sourcing and purchasing plans. You will excel in optimizing production and logistics operations to meet customer expectations while minimizing costs. A key focus area is shrimp procurement, where you ensure timely scheduling and effective communication with support departments to maximize resource efficiency.
The candidate is adept at developing and maintaining a robust supply network, forging long-term partnerships with key suppliers to secure optimal pricing, quality, and reliability. You will demonstrate strong inventory management skills, maintaining master data and targeting inventory levels while minimizing obsolescence and distressed inventory through proactive reporting.
You will have a deep understanding of market and industry trends, sourcing strategies, and regulatory policies enables them to stay ahead of the curve and you have a proven track record of leading cross-functional initiatives that involve purchasing, sourcing, and process improvements in collaboration with R&D, Operations, Sales, and Marketing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops and executes strategic seafood sourcing and purchasing plans to meet customer expectations while optimizing production and logistics operations at the lowest cost.
- Manages the shrimp procurement process to support timely scheduling and communication with support departments ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Develops and maintains an effective supply network.
- Cultivates and maintains partnerships with key suppliers to secure optimal pricing, quality and reliability of supply over the long term.
- Maintains the master data (lead time/seasonal availability/appropriate weeks on hand) and manages inventory levels to target.
- Minimizes obsolescence and distressed inventory through excess and projected expiration reporting.
- Understands and stays abreast of current market and industry trends, sourcing strategies and methods, and relevant regulatory policies.
- Leads purchasing, sourcing and process improvement initiatives involving functional areas such as R&D, Operations, Sales and Marketing.
- Monitors and manages delivery schedules from suppliers.
- Manages purchasing contracts for timely and accurate execution with favorable terms and conditions.
- Fosters an environment of continuous improvement throughout the organization.
Qualifications
B.S./B.A. degree in Supply Chain or closely related field.
At least 8 years of experience in protein procurement, shrimp preferred.
Knowledge of strategic sourcing concepts and methods
Excellent negotiation skills
CPM certification preferred
Strong analytical and financial acumen
Proficiency in MS Office especially Excel, Word and Powerpoint.
Exposure to MFGPRO and MRP planning systems is preferred
Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
Willing and able to travel internationally a minimum of 25% or as business needs require.
Ability to effectively communicate and present information.
