Business Development Manager
Job Description
About The Role
The Business Development Manager services customers and generates product sales to key regional chain accounts, large volume restaurant operators, group purchasing organizations and food service customers to achieve business objectives and maximize profitability of the account portfolio for King & Prince Seafood. Scope includes account management, new business development and sales administration.
Business Development
Develops and improves business with existing and new King & Prince customers.
Builds, manages and leverages broker partnerships; communicates and follows-up with brokers regarding specific activities with regional accounts.
Analyzes customer menus and makes value-added product recommendations.
Builds strong customer relationships with chain decision makers.
Manages approvals with Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs) and Management groups.
Identifies and develops new profitable volume.
New Customer Acquisition
Develops new business with custom products (per company minimum sales requirements).
Identifies high potential operators through market reconnaissance and networking.
Serves as regional market expert on new and emerging chains; stays current on customer and market trends.
Works closely with culinary resources to execute menu ideation sessions for key customers.
Sales Administration
Develops and maintains account profiles for assigned accounts.
Prepare weekly sales activity reports.
Prepares quarterly account business project report and results.
Plans deployment of culinary resources toward key regional customers to bring value-added services in providing solutions to customers needs.
Collaborates with brokers on local market initiatives and supports broker/customer training needs.
Keep team members and stakeholders informed on customer activity and new product placements.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business or related field
Extensive experience in food service sales and business development experience
Proven track record of sales success
Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship building skills
Ability to develop & implement business plans
Strong culinary and menu concept skills; culinarian/executive chef experience or certification a plus
Possessing a “hunter” sales mentality; always searching for new customers and product opportunities
50% regional travel required
