Job Description

The Sword Fish and Tuna Category Manager is responsible for sourcing frozen and fresh seafood products for resale to retailers, distributors, restaurants, and foodservice companies. Principal accountabilities include sourcing, negotiations, launching new items, supplier relations and being the main resource for cross functional teams to achieve revenue and profitability objectives in a distributor business.

About The Role

The Sword Fish and Tuna Category Manager is responsible for sourcing frozen and fresh seafood products for resale to retailers, distributors, restaurants, and foodservice companies. Principal accountabilities include sourcing, negotiations, launching new items, supplier relations and being the main resource for cross functional teams to achieve revenue and profitability objectives in a distributor business.

  • Plan and negotiate with potential suppliers and internal sales team to achieve revenue, growth, and profitability objectives, applying the sourcing processes adopted by the company.
  • Negotiate, execute, and monitor contracts with suppliers
  • Develop strong collaborative relationships with key stakeholders such as category managers, sales associates, customers within the company, and with supplier key decision makers.
  • Ensure the departments goals and objectives that drive cost savings/cost mitigation initiatives, increase sales, reduce working capital, and provide for people development are met.
  • Identify new suppliers for new and existing items including supplier relationship management.
  • Evaluate financial implication of purchasing decisions and how these impact the business retail P&L, present recommendations to senior management.
  • Develop and monitor new opportunities. Review and analyze complex supplier proposals and make recommendations to senior management.

 

The Ideal Candidate

You'll have experience in a seafood purchasing or category role. Experience in food service would also set you in good stead to hit the ground running and be ready to utilize your strong negotiation and strategy skills to make an impact.

  • Experience in seafood purchasing is required.
