Benchmark Genetics is a leader in aquaculture genetics, present in every major aquaculture market and for a wide range of species. Our five in-house breeding programmes are focusing on three main species: salmon, shrimp and tilapia. We also believe in technical support to ensure that our customers are able to take out the potential of our genetics. Our sales teams have several technical specialists covering the three focus species as well as different production systems including RAS.

 

The Role

The role of the Senior People Manager is to act as Strategic HR Business Partner to the Head of Benchmark Genetics and the Genetics Senior Management team and advise the business on a range of matters relating to recruitment, performance management, talent management, employee engagement, remuneration and other People matters as required.
This role has operational HR responsibility for all Norway employees (70) in addition to global strategic HR responsibility and people co-ordination for the Genetics business across Norway, Iceland, Chile, Columbia, and the US.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advice and assistance to all line managers in Benchmark Genetics on a range of People related matters to ensure they are dealt with effectively, fairly and in line with Benchmark’s values and approach to people
  • Ensure that an effective HR service is provided which adheres to local practices, cultural norms and adheres to all relevant employment legislation
  • Work with the global People team to deliver all aspects of the Group’s People Strategy and annual strategic priorities
  • Work with the global People team to champion Benchmark’s values and culture and to engage in local activities, e.g. team building, management training and development, to reinforce these across the team
  • Responsible for the consistent application of Benchmark policies across Benchmark Genetics
  • Ensure processes and procedures are kept up to date and are implemented to a consistently high standard
  • Manage the employee joining and leaving processes, including recruitment and selection, offers and contracts, induction and exits for Benchmark Norway employees
  • Coordinate the annual salary review and bonus processes
  • Manage training and development activities across the employee base, including talent management and succession planning activities

 

The Ideal Candidate

You will have a proven track record of working as an HR Manager / HR Business Partner role within an aquaculture or seafood business. You will have good knowledge of employment law, health & safety in the workplace, and strive to make the business the best place to work.

Qualifications and experience

  • Strong HR generalist experience, preferably within an international business
  • Experience of delivering an HR service across a globally matrixed organisation
  • A clear understanding of Norwegian employment law and business practices is essential
  • Experience of working across a multi-site operation
  • General IT competence and confidence in the use of MS Office
